"The (Self-)Promotion Show"
Apex Art, 291 Church St January 9, 2008  Apex Art is a cozy non-profit that is really close to where I work, so I try to attend their events when I can. I didn’t expect much from this mid-week opening but actually it was a great time. The gallery commissioned different video artists to create promotions for the gallery. Many were mediocre, some were awful, one or two were totally brilliant....

Julian Schnabel "Navigation Drawings"
Sperone Westwater 415 W 13th St January 8, 2008 I’ll be the first to admit that I am not the biggest fan of Mr. Schnabel’s artistic output. Though he seems to be a fine filmmaker and a talented art star, his paintings leave me undernourished. These are no exception.
